Martin Machine prototype roof

I’ve been distracted by work, a cold and DIY!

I have nearly finished the bathroom so am finding time to get back to the tedious task of cutting glass to size. I’ve used microscope slide cover slips as real glass. The window frames look too new so I need to knock them back with some chalks when I’m done but cutting individual panes takes ages…

I have been studying my pictures and plans though and have a question. This is one of my favourite pictures of the roof which is going to be fun to model:

The near roof has a snow catcher on it and then a shiny piece of what looks like tin roofing at the bottom. I’m trying to work out if these would have been around in the 30s when I am modelling.
