I have to admit to loving the Transformers films. I even saw the second one at a drive in movie theatre in Connecticut. Having seen the third film, I was surfing the internet to see if there were any model kits. There was one, sold out already, of Optimus Prime and an available one for Bumblebee. They are made by Takara Tomy and I managed to find both in Japan.
The Build:
Optimus and Bumblebee arrived today along with a few gifts from the ebay seller – ken_rockey. It was a real pleasure doing business with him.
I’m planning on doing a diorama with Sam crawling out of a partly burnt out Humvee with Bumblebee and Optimus standing guard. There’s going to be loads of concrete rubble and some graffiti with the title somewhere.
In anticipation I had been doing a few things for the diorama. I started with Sam. He’s a 1/35 Tamiya figure, the one at the front holding the mortar and an arm from the guy who’s pointing:
I used Vallejo acrylic putty but after this stage I went on to Squadron putty thinned with MEK for a harder more sandable finish. Don’t worry, I have started on his head problem!
Here’s some project X teaser photos… a long way before he looks good.
I have done a bit more on his head and clothes but must remember to take a photo…
