We went on to Jack Stack’s for a barbecue lunch but half way through popped out to see Steve Hottle go through on an intermodal freight with three brand new GEVOs on the front. I had beef burnt ends and sliced pork. Melt in your mouth.
We went out to Johnson County Community College where Stephen teaches Conductor and Railroad Engineer classes at the National Academy of Railroad Sciences. Really impressive with thousands of students each year learning everything from signalling to engine maintenance. They have amazing simulators and labs with entire engines, cars or signalling apparatus in them.
More railfanning at Holiday where we saw an OGEX empties coal train run out of the BNSF line to Topeka from a power plant.
The back units:
We went on to Eric’s layout which is Santa Fe. Eric has a model OGEX coal train too!
I ran a Santa Fe Directors’ train around.
