Neon Alley Optimus
I’ve been playing around in Photoshop trying to composite Optimus into a scene.
Last summer I spent quite a while learning Adobe Photoshop and playing around. I discovered some great tutorials by Phlearn, many of which are free, and have been practicing how to do things. I realise that what I like about photography is the compositing part, i.e. building up a final photo from a group of disparate photos.
I have so many great models and I never feel that my photos do them justice! First up was Optimus who is just crying out to be somewhere more exciting than a shelf in my dining room.
I wanted to build a “neon alley” like you see in so many sci fi movies – not derivative at all! I started off with around 10 photos from around the world. The main alley is from Portland, Maine, with other photos from China and Hong Kong. Optimus was photographed in front of a green scene and put into the newly created alley.
I’ve done a few different variations:

I’d love to know what you think of them so let me know in the comments below and take the poll to tell me which is your favourite.
