How to Model Cracked Earth

How to Model Cracked Earth

We’re continuing the series on culverts and a while ago I saw Luke Towan (check out his YouTube channel here) use Citadel Agrellan Earth to model some cracked earth.  I just had to try it out too.  A culvert seemed like an excellent opportunity as it is an area where sediment accumulates and settles and when it dries, will often crack.

Citadel Agrellan Earth is very easy to use, you just brush/dab it on thickly.  It is perhaps a little harder to judge how thickly to put it on to make HO scale cracks but O scale or above would be very easy to do.

Materials

The main items I used this week were:

  • Citadel Agrellan Earth – I bought mine online and it is easily available from gaming suppliers (in the UK) or Amazon.
  • Mig Pigments – there are many different pigment manufacturers out there but I have a lot of Mig pigments so I tend to use them first.  My favourite colour is Industrial City Dirt P039.
