The Overall Diorama

This is the last shot of the diorama showing the different levels.

The base is just chipboard but the uprights are steel posts screwed and epoxied in for safety. The ground cover is slate chipping and Deluxe Materials snow and icy sparkles.

The grill is for a car and cut to shape. The metal tube gantry support structure is actually straws with connectors that I designed and had 3D printed by Shapeways.

I wanted a very vertical structure so it’s deliberately cut off in mid air. Cool to model but harder to photo.

Yellow seemed the best colour given it’s industrial theme but it had to be faded (and rusted). The gantry is covered in Deluxe Materials snow and icy sparkles plus a fair amount of acrylic gloss medium to add an icy sheen.
