How to Paint Tarmac using Tamiya Texture Paints – Pavement Effect

Tamiya make a series of texture paints such as grass, earth and snow and they also have a couple of pavement effect paints. The light gray one is slightly rougher in texture and more representative of concrete. The darker paint is a new tarmac effect. It’s s bit dark for me but is easy to paint after application.

Tamiya recommend using a spatula but I struggle to get a smooth flat surface over larger areas so prefer to dilute the paint and paint it on and let it self level.

The “Real” World

Materials

Smooth flat base such as foam core or a non-absorbent surface. Used a shiny paper glued down with a pritt/glue stick.
