Let it Snow – Winter diorama

Making a Winter Wonderland

I love modelling winter dioramas – they’re so easy and fun to do! When Noch approached me to make 4 short videos for their advent calendar series, I snapped at the chance – this is the complete video in one go.

Snow is easily modelled with a variety of different powders and I have been through many of them in detail in past videos – you can check out my snow and ice video collection for more details. This time I also wanted to try a frozen river with ice sides and resin ripples. I have never done resin ripples before and I felt it was time to try the technique. It did work well but timing is everything and I was out at the perfect time.

My biggest tip is to make sure that your base is well sealed or you can get bleed through, especially from soil, and no one likes yellow snow!

Materials

The Amazon links are all items I have either bought or bought something similar for myself. Clicking on any links to Amazon will give me a small affiliate income which I use to produce more videos at absolutely no extra cost to yourself. Every little helps!

I used mostly Noch products as this was originally for their channel. I thought their resin water was good and their powdered snow was a favourite when I tested the snow products earlier in the year. I’ve linked to Amazon so you can see the products but many are better available through hobby shops or direct from Noch who are based in Germany. It really depends where you live as to what will suit you.
