Galactic Racers – Only 9 Days Left to Unlock More Stretch Goals

The Galactic Racers Kickstarter is in full swing so I wanted to share with you some of the more recent modelling I have been doing.  We have been busy unlocking stretch goals releasing even more goodies!  Everything is test printed in FDM with professional pre-supports to come.

This unlocked stretch goal is the start bridge and it really fought me. Getting the fit right so these didn’t sag plus making them usable has been a challenge but we are finally there at least.  The biggest problems were print orientation and textures.

Adding sand textures really slows down Blender but that is my modelling software…  For buildings I prefer to add modifiers to not distort the underlying mesh too much.  You need loads of geometry to manage that and Blender doesn’t like too much.  Sculpting using texture brushes can be better, if actually no smaller in size.   However, sculpting can add bulk in places where fit is important, like here.  Some days, it feels like all I do is watch the little spinning wheel as I wait for Blender to work it all out…
We just unlocked the Crashed Bully Racer which is three pieces to put on a tabletop as scenic scatter.
Here’s a sneak peek at the next stretch goal which is a little scene/terrain – it features a ramp which will have holes for a racer to fit on with a crashed gate (being modelled next) or a whole gate.

If you’re interested on getting your hands on these models then check out the Galactic Racers Kickstarter now:
